Vegas Golden Knights 2021 Wine Pairing, Citra Trebbiano D’Abruzzo DOC
Wine notes
Global Warming has an impact on the type of grapes that can be grown in any region. As temperatures rise, the ability to grow specific grape varietals changes. A recent publication form the University of British Columbia suggests that combating the potential loss of up to half the regions suitable for wine growing can be achieved by swapping out grapes for more drought and heat tolerant varieties.
The article provides several suggestions of which grapes can be swapped, one of them is that Riesling can be switched out for Trebbiano as temperatures rise. This leads us to the 2021 VGK Pairing: Citra Trebbiano D’Abruzzo DOC.
Over the past 30 years hockey, a game dependent on ice, has heated up in hot weather climates and the Las Vegas Golden Knights are the latest example of this. If hockey can exist in Las Vegas anything is possible. Who knows, we may be buying Trebbiano Ice Wine from Niagara sometime soon.
Team notes
The Las Vegas Golden Knights have been the beneficiary of an NHL expansion draft that strives for new teams to be able to compete for the Stanley Cup. In their inaugural 2017/18 season the Golden Knights wen to the Stanly Cup Final and they have made the playoffs every year since.
NHL hockey has been evolving and adapting to the changing media landscape and taking advantage of the opportunities that social media and streaming provides. By becoming the first professional sports franchise in Las Vegas, the NHL has been a leader in adapting to change.
Citra Trebbiano D’Abruzzo DOC might be your introdution to where wine is going… just like the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Don’t believe me? Black Hills Estate Winery has already started to grow Tempranillo (Check out the Calgary Flames Line Change), and Ontario vineyards have been making Gewürztraminer a standard varietal.
