Buffalo Sabres 2021 Wine Pairing, Lamoreaux Landing Dry Riesling 2016
Wine notes
A regional option to celebrate Finger Lakes, upstate New York’s wine growing region. If the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia and the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario had a baby, it would be the Finger Lakes. With that being said it should be no surprise that the Finger Lakes region is known for the production of the Nobel Grape – Riesling.
Do not expect Lamoreaux Landing to taste like the traditional Rieslings from the Mosel in Germany. This wine will be an opportunity to experience how geography and terroir can have an influence on a grape variety.
Team notes
The Sabres are sort of like making Riesling in upstate New York. Having all of the right ingredients doesn’t necessarily mean that the end result is going to work every year. For the Sabres, the past 5 years have been difficult.
Despite a roster full of players that most teams would want to have in their lineup – Eichle, Eakin, Okposo, Reinhart, and Skinner, the Sabres are ending their season in a familiar spot, the bottom of the standings.
