Washington Capitals 2022 Wine Pairing: Teliani Valley Medium-Sweet Red 2019
Wine notes
If there is an NHL hockey team that everyone should know more about because of its historical significance it is the Washington Capitals. If there is a wine region that everyone should know more about because of its historical significance it is the country Georgia. There is a very long history between Georgia and Russia, and although their relations may not be strong at the moment, we are turning to Valley Medium-Sweet Red 2019, a wine that uses a native grape varietal, Saperavi. You can pick up a bottle at the LCBO for $15.95.
Why?
Because one of the oldest wine growing regions in the world should be paired with one of todays oldest goal scorers, the Great 8, Alex Ovechkin.

Team notes
The Washington Capitals have a recipe for success in the Metropolitan Division: size and weight. With the exception of a few players, the Capitals are a big and heavy team that can impose their will across all 4 lines. The 2021-22 season will be no different. Building off of historic native grapes from Italy last year, the 2021-22 wine pairing sticks to the theme of native grapes, with the Season Pairing and Line Change wines from Georgia (the country).
Cheers!
