2023 Western Conference Round 1: Golden Knights vs. Jets

Weingut Sinss Spätburgunder Trocken 2016

(Golden Knights)

VS.

Domaine de Rochebin Clos Saint-Germain Vieilles Vignes Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018

(Jets)

Tale of the Tape:

Simply put, this series might end up bloodier than a Rick Flair WWE match. These two teams do not shy away from rough hockey, but they both back it up with skill.

Hockey WineUp Prediction:

Hockey WineUp is choosing Weingut Sinss Spätburgunder Trocken 2016 to win the first round match up. Germany is known for Reisling, but when the conditions are right the region makes beautiful and unique Pinot Noir. This uniqueness is why the Pinot Noir from Germany is being selected over the standard Burgundy.

From the winery:

Character: With a deep ruby color, this wine evokes raspberry, strawberry and cherry. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels, we find accents drawing on the undergrowth, spicy aromas of tobacco and cocoa beans.
On the palate it is a whole wine, rich in body and fruit with a nice roundness and fleshy at maturity.

Food and wine pairings: It will appeal wonderfully to grilled red meats, offal in sauce, kidneys, beef tongue, and all meats in sauce such as beef bourguignon or coq au vin.

Serving temperature : To be served between 14 and 16°C.
