Detroit Red Wings 2024 Team Pairing

Marynissen Estate 2021 Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a grape varietal known for having an ability to ripen quickly, and this is exactly what the Detroit Red Wings are hoping to do this year. Here’s why the 2024 Detroit Red Wings wine pairing is Marynissen Estate 2021 Cabernet Franc.

Since 2019 Steve Yzerman has been the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Red Wings with a goal of rebuilding the team. Four years into his leadership the Red Wings start the 2023/24 season with hopes of making the playoffs. This will be a major achievement for a team that has under performed over the past 15 years.

In order to be a serious playoff contender this year the Red Wings players will need to come together and ripen quickly in order to be at their best for a late season push for a Wild Card spot.

The Detroit Red Wings jersey is an Original Six classic and unique in that it only has two colours as part of the colour scheme, the red used in the jersey is unmistakable. Cabernet Franc has historically been used as a blend, but recently, especially in wine growing regions like Ontario, Cab Franc has been bottled as a single varietal. The grape itself is known for producing a bright pale red colour, although not a perfect match, this colour description can also be applied to the classic Red and White colour scheme of the Red Wings.
