2024 NHL All-Star Game

Château de Camensac Haut-Médoc 2000

The NHL All-Star Game deserves a wine made of All-Star grape varieties… Queue up Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Haut-Médoc.

Can you think of a better way to enjoy this year’s NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto than sipping on a Bordeaux Grad Cru Classee En 1855 from the year Toronto last hosted the All-Star Game?

One of the most enjoyable activities to do while sipping on wine is to reflect on what was going on the year it was produced. So, since this wine was made the same year Toronto hosted the All-Star game, let’s look back 24 years to the last NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto!

When Toronto last hosted the NHL All-Star Game the Air Canada Centre was only one-years old!

This year’s All-Star teams will be somewhat experimental and incorporate a draft with celebrity captains part of the process. 24 years ago the game took on an experimental in an effort to increase interest in the game as well: Team North America (coached by Pat Quinn of the Leafs) vs. Team World (coached by Scotty Bowman of the Red Wings)

Toronto Maple Leafs, only had 3 players in the game in the year 2000.

Curtis Joseph was the starting goalie for team North America and Leaf’s Captain Mats Sundin, along with D-man Dmitry Yushkevich played for Team World. Current Leaf’s President and Alternate Governor, Brendan Shanahan played in the 2000 All-Star game for team North America.
