Wines to Watch
This week is all about the wines in the Central Division represented by the Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets, and Colorado Avalanche. The Central Division is known for a big, heavy hitting style of play that can grind a team down, especially over the course of a 7 game series – the three wines featured this week are built for playoff hockey watching and will add to the excitement of your hockey viewing.
Adamo Estate Winery – 2022 Sogno Unoaked Chardonnay
The Dallas Stars might be the most underrated team in the league this year. It can be argued that their best chance for winning a cup was 2019 and 2020, but the reality is that the core group is intact and knows what a playoff grind looks like.
Games this week:
- Thursday February 29: Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars 8:00 pm ET
- Saturday March 2: San Jose Sharks at Dallas Stars 8:00 pm ET
- Tuesday March 5: Dallas Stars at San Jose Sharks 10:30 pm ET
Graham’s 2017 Late Bottled Vintage Port
The Winnipeg Jets have been in the news recently because the ownership group has raised concerns about a lack of season ticket purchases. When the NHL returned to Winnipeg after a 15 year absence, the city had the hottest ticket in the league with over 13,000 season ticket holders in a stadium that has a capacity of around 15,300, but times have changed and this season there are about 9,000 season ticket holders. The Jets have a legitimate chance to make a Stanley Cup push this year and a deep playoff drive could make a big difference for the team’s attendance numbers.
Games this week:
- Thursday February 29: Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars 8:00 pm ET
- Saturday March 2: Winnipeg Jets at Carolina Hurricanes 12:30 pm ET
- Sunday March 3: Winnipeg Jets at Buffalo Sabres 7:00 pm ET
- Tuesday March 5: Seattle Kraken at Winnipeg Jets 8:00 pm ET
Pyrène Côtes de Gascogne Cuvée Marine
The Colorado Avalanche are led by the NHL’s most dynamic player, Nathan MacKinnon. The team is a cup contender, but really, Nathan MacKinnon is the main reason why you’ll want to pour yourself a glass of Pyrène Côtes de Gascogne Cuvée Marine.
Games this week:
- Thursday February 29: Colorado Avalanche at Chicago Blackhawks 9:00 pm ET
- Saturday March 2: Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators 6:30 pm ET
- Monday March 4: Chicago Blackhawks at Colorado Avalanche 9:00 pm ET
- Wednesday March 6: Detroit Redwings at Colorado Avalanche 9:30 pm ET
