Carolina Hurricanes 2021 Wine Pairing, Vineyard 36 – 2019 THE KING’S STORM Cabernet Franc
Wine notes
Vineyard 36 is owned by Cam Ward and Tim Gleason. The King’s Storm is named after the teams that these two players entered the league in. This was an easy pick to celebrate Cam Ward’s Stanley Cup victory in Carolina.
According to the vineyard the sandy, gravel-based soils of shale with a sandstone topsoil produce wines that are black in color with very low PH values and naturally high acids that are perfect combination for longevity.
100 cases of the 2019 King’s Storm were produced.
Team notes
Over the past three seasons the Carolina Hurricanes have embodied the spirit of the Paul Newman classic “Slapshot“. The character of Rod Brind’amour is infectious and things have been bright for the “Canes” ever since Justin Williams initiated the Storm Surge after home wins in the 2018/2019 season.
The birth of the storm surge in 2019 is a perfect match for the inaugural King’s Storm vintage of 2019.
*For anyone who is lucky enough to get a taste of the 2019 King’s Storm we’d love to hear about your experience!
