Sweetly fruited, with strawberries and raspberries on the nose and hints of chocolate and toasted coconut. Medium
bodied, fresh and balanced, with good acidity and moderate tannins.
The vineyard lis ocated within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley. Grown on hillside blocks facing from north-east to north-west. Vineyards planted between 2000 and 2010, equipped with drip irrigation. Crop levels are an average of 5 tons per hectare (2.5 tons per acre).Frequent foggy mornings, warm days and cool nights. Average temperatures in summer are 18.9ºC and in winter 10.7ºC. Mean diurnal shifts in March are 13.1ºC. Yearly rainfall is 380 mm on average, falling mostly between May and September.

Great post! As a fan of both hockey and wine, I found your comparison of the Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Pinot Noir 2019 and Rosehall Run Pinot Noir VQA Defiant to be an interesting read. I agree with your prediction that the Chilean pinot noir may outperform the Canadian one. I was curious, have you tried any other wines from the Casablanca Valley region in Chile? If so, how does this one compare?

Thanks for the great comment. This year the St. Louis Blues were paired with Cono Sur Organic, another Chilean Pinot Noir from Casablanca Valley. Personally, I am a very big fan of Cono Sur and what they have been able to do over the last 15 years, it is hard to beat the quality for the price point and as a result is fantastic for Beef Bourguignon. If the St. Louis Blues made the playoffs there’s a good chance that Cono Sur Organic would be upsetting a lot of wines on head to head tastings.
